CANCELED--VA Festival of the Book: "Shifting Perspectives on the Civil War Experience"

Important Update: The Virginia Festival of the Book has been canceled for this year. As a result, we will not hold the following book panel on March 19. Please see their website for more information: https://www.vabook.org/2020/03/canceled-2020-festival/

The Nau Center is sponsoring a panel at the 2020 Virginia Festival of the Book titled "Shifting Perspectives on the Civil War Experience." Historians James J. Broomall (Private Confederacies), William B. Kurtz (co-editor, Soldiers of the Cross), and Thavolia Glymph (The Women’s Fight) share their research and writing from the personal side of the Civil War. These books follow the lives of Southern men, Catholic chaplains and sister nurses, and the role of women to provide new and important perspectives for our understanding of the War. Book sales and signing will follow. The event will be moderated from Caroline E. Janney, director of the Nau Center.

The panel will take place in UVA's Special Collections Library auditorium from 2:00 to 3:30 PM. This event is free to attend and open to the public. Paid parking is available nearby at the Central Grounds Parking Garage located near the UVA bookstore.
