The annual meeting of the Southern Historical Association, which takes place in Baltimore, Maryland, on November 10-13, features presentations from several UVA graduate students and alumni.
On November 11 at 9:30am, PhD candidate Jesse George-Nichol will present her research on "Nativism, Unionism, and American Manhood in the 1850s."
On November 11 at 2:30am, Professor Rachel Shelden (PhD 2011) of Penn State University will examine "John McLean and the Antislavery Partisan Political Movement."
On November 12 at 9:30am, PhD candidate Daniele Celano will discuss "Masculinity, Martial Law, and Military Emancipation in Civil War Kentucky."
