Announcing Our 2021 Library Fellows

The Nau Center is pleased to announce the recipients of its short-term research fellowships for 2021. Our award winners will conduct their research at UVA’s Albert and Shirley Small Special Collections Library once it has reopened to the public.

Professor James J. Broomall of Shepherd University will be examining collections related to his study of Civil War material culture.

Professor Jeffrey T. Perry of Tusculum University will visit UVA to do research for his study of the memory of President Andrew Johnson.

Professor Jean L. Franzino, an NEH Postdoctoral Fellow at the Winterthur Museum, Garden, & Library, will be conduct research on disability during the Civil War and at UVA’s wartime hospitals.

PhD Candidate K. Howell Keiser, Jr., of Louisiana State University will work on his project examining heightened geographic and environmental insecurity in the South between 1830 and 1860.
