Nau Center Scholars at the Virginia Forum

The 2023 Virginia Forum, which meets at Shepherd University on March 16-18, features presentations from several Nau Center scholars:

  • March 17 at 8:30am: Managing Director Brian C. Neumann will participate in a panel on “A Digital Civil War: New Collaborative Research at UVA." His presentation will highlight the Nau Center's UVA Unionists digital project. 
  • Undergraduate student Gideon French will serve on the same panel. He will discuss his digital project "Hands-On History: Digitizing, Transcribing, and Curating the Letters of a Civil War Chaplain," which he carried out in partnership with the Nau Center.
  • March 17 at 3:15pm: Daniel W. Sunshine (UVA PhD 2022) and PhD candidate Matthew Grace will participate in a panel on "Visions of Modernity: Slavery, Emancipation, and the Political Economy of West Virginia."
