Liberation and Freedom Day

On Friday, March 3, the University of Virginia and the city of Charlottesville will celebrate the first annual commemoration of the city's occupation by Union forces on March 3, 1865 at the close of the American Civil War. Liberation and Freedom Day will remember this important historical event and will begin at UVA's chapel at 4 PM. At 5 PM, those gathered on grounds will then march to the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center where the day's program will continue from 6 to 8 PM. Nau Center Director Gary W.
