J. Jacob Calhoun Wins Anthony E. Kaye Memorial Essay Award

Congratulations to J. Jacob Calhoun (UVA PhD 2024), who received the Journal of the Civil War Era's Anthony E. Kaye Memorial Essay Award for 2025! His essay is entitled, “‘Nothing was known of the dead’: Coroners and the Massacres of 1866.”

Calhoun, who served as a Nau Center postdoctoral fellow in 2024-25, is now the Byron K. Trippet Assistant Professor of History and the David A. Moore Chair in American History at Wabash College.
