Through the Institute for Public History at UVA, the Nau Center will employ four summer interns to work on public history projects across the state of Virginia this summer. Amelia Gilmer, a third-year student who currently works at the Center on our digital projects, will work at the Richmond National Battlefield Park and Maggie L. Walker National Historic Site. Also in Richmond, second-year student Kira McBride will be working with the Virginia Historical Society to help process their Civil War collections. In Fredericksburg, fourth-year student Jane Winthrop will intern with the Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park, which oversees four major Civil War sites in the area. Finally, History major Jane Diamond will work in Charlottesville with our digital historian on the Center's Black Virginians in Blue digital project. Congratulations to all four students on receiving their internships, and we look forward to sharing the details of their work in the fall.
