Unity Days Event: African American Men in the Union Army

As part of this summer's citywide Charlottesvillle celebration of "Unity Days," UVA historian Elizabeth Varon will discuss the role of local African American soliders from Albemarle in the Union military during the Civil War. Based on several years of research conducted at the Nau Center, the event is a great opportunity to learn about our "Black Virginians in Blue" digital project that will be launched in Spring 2020.

The event, which is titled "Unity Days Event: African American Men in the Union Army," is free and open to the public and will take place on May 30 at 6:00 PM in the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center. Free parking is available in the Center's adjacent garage.
