The Nau Center and UVA will be well represented at the upcoming Southern Historical Association meeting in Little Rock, Arkansas November 12-15.  Current PhD candidate Frank Cirillo will present his paper " 'An Antislavery Virginian' in Queen Victoria's Court: Moncure Conway and Abolitionist Tactics During the Civil War" at a session entitled "Southern Abolitionists in the Civil War Era."  Tamika Richeson (UVA PhD, 2014), Assistant Professor at Oberlin, will offer comments at a panel on “Fraught Intimacies:  Interracial Sexuality and Violence in the Long Nineteenth Century.”  And Professor Varon will participate in a round table on “Revisiting Reunion and Reconciliation.”  The conference also features presentations by UVA grad student Emily Senefeld, faculty members Derrick Aldridge and Douglas Blackmon, and by graduates of our PhD program, Scott Nesbit, Rachel Shelden, Caroline Janney and Andrew Torget.
