Nau Center's Inaugural Event: Friday October 16

The Nau Center for the Study of the American Civil War will officially open with its inaugural event this Friday, October 16, 2015. Drs. Gary Gallagher and Elizabeth Varon will be joined by Drs. Edward L. Ayers and Thavolia Glymph to hold a roundtable discussion about the state of Civil War scholarship and how the Nau Center can contribute to our understanding of America’s most costly war. The event will take place in Nau Hall 101, and will start at 3:30 PM.

In order to promote the opening of the new center, UVA Today has posted a news story about Dr. Gallagher and his decades-long passion for teaching the history of the war to UVA undergraduates. The story also discusses his considerable research and publications on the Civil War and its memory.
